BASIC FUNCTION: The Surgical Technologist is a member of the surgical healthcare team and provides support to surgeons, nursing staff and the anesthesia team in the operating room.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Arranges supplies and instruments and keeps accurate count of the instruments
- Helps the surgical team to scrub and dress for surgery
- Passes instruments and other sterile supplies during surgery, applies dressings, helps to prepare and preserve specimens
- Operates the sterilizer, lights, suction machines and diagnostic equipment.
- Assists with maintenance of surgical equipment, inventory, and sterilization.
- Assists Circulating RN in assessing operating room for equipment function, readiness, supply availability and ensures need of operating team are met.
QUALIFICATIONS: - 1 - 2 years of working experience in a healthcare setting.
- Must have current BLS card upon hire and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program required.
- Certification with the Association of Surgical Technologists preferred.
- Registered as a Surgical Technologist with the State of Colorado required.
SALARY INFORMATION: $23.95 - $33.00 hourly dependent on experience
