Librae Bakery is a third culture bakery in Cooper Square, focusing on middle eastern ingredients. 

Looking to hire a Pastry Sous Chef to be responsible for supporting the Chef and Culinary Director in overseeing day to day operations of our busy bakery. This role will assist in menu design and daily pastry production.

This position provides an opportunity to grow with a young company that is committed to providing the best work environment possible for our small and mighty team. We are seeking someone looking to take the next step in their career or with some previous managerial experience in a bakery setting. We are looking for someone with an eye for detail, passion for scratch made pastry and bread and with experience in laminating dough. Experience in a fast paced, high volume production setting a plus

The person that is right for this role will have:
  • A solid understanding of operations, strong attention to detail and sense of responsibility, organization, cleanliness and a commitment to excellence
  • The ability to lead a team of employees and train the pastry team on all new recipes and standards
  • The ability to multi-task in a face-paced high volume environment
  • Ability to interact positively with management, coworkers, and our guests and maintain a positive and professional approach to daily tasks
  • Compliance with  all food safety standards -NYC Food Handler's License is a plus!
Job expectations and requirements include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee and manage all areas of our bakery operation and production, ensuring compliance with our standards, policies & health & safety laws in line with our Handbook guidelines
  • Practice food safety protocols and have a food handlers license
  • Monthly inventory
  • Food ordering and organization. maintain cleanliness of dried storage, walk-ins, and common space
  • Quality control and assessment of raw product and pastries
  • Daily production and assistance in all viennoiserie, pastries, and sourdough breads
  • Maintain a positive attitude and is able to work efficiently both as a team leader and independently
  • Ability to work weekends and/or holidays
