2437 Bilingual Payroll Specialist
Our client is an industry leader operating in over 30 countries worldwide, servicing Canada with over 200 branches coast to coast. We are currently seeking a Bilingual Payroll Specialist for a hybrid role at their Corporate Office in Mississauga . In this role, you will assist with day-to-day payroll processing from hire to retire, ensuring payroll is processed with accurate calculations under strict deadlines.
Office: Hybrid role 2 days work from home, 3 days in the Mississauga corporate office.
Abbreviated Responsibilities
- Process complex, multi-provincial payroll, overseeing the timely preparation, processing, maintenance and appropriate distribution of payroll information, payroll reports, payroll manuals and related payroll working instructions.
- Process but not limited to salary/wages increases, benefit deductions, employee terminations, as well as review and approve the preview register
- Process new hire setup, salary/wages increase, benefit deductions, employee terminations, within the current Empath payroll system. *SAP in the future.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance & control by ensuring systems and processes are compliant with Canadian Provincial & Federal legislation.
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures: Responsible for updating current documents with detail and document new processes where required.
- Provide support to the entire organization regarding all payroll-related matters as needed; Monitor Payroll inbox and reply in a timely manner.
- Assist the Payroll Manager on projects, audits and special requests from internal and external stakeholders.
Experience & Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills English and French - REQUIRED
- Certified Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation - REQUIRED
- 3+ years of payroll experience
- SAP preferred (EC & ECP) and/or experience with In-house systems (Empath an asset).
- Comfortable with manual data entry and other manual payroll processes
- Implementation experience an asset, SAP preferred (EC & ECP).
- Ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization.
- Ability to respond calmly under pressure situations.
- Strong problem solving skills, analysis of issues and the creation of action plans.
- MS Excel (VLOOKUPs & Pivot Tables.)
- Ability to multi-tasker, prioritize in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Passionate about numerical data and complex calculations.
- Expert knowledge of payroll tax law & Employment Standards in Canada.
- Ability to work flexible hours during peak periods
