We have an exciting opportunity for Director of Operations in the Windsor area for a top Tool build company!


Position Summary

The Director of Operations will oversee and optimize all operational functions of the tool-build and mold manufacturing process. This leadership role requires a results-oriented professional with deep experience in manufacturing operations, supply chain management, and team leadership. The successful candidate will drive efficiency, ensure production quality, and align operations with company goals to deliver exceptional client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all aspects of the tool-build and mold production processes, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and ensure high-quality standards.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor performance, productivity, and profitability across departments.
  • Manage resource allocation, ensuring appropriate staffing, tooling, and equipment to meet production demands.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational workflows.
  • Evaluate production technologies and recommend updates to improve quality and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.

Team Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Collaborate with department heads (e.g., engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance) to align goals and deliverables.
  • Provide regular performance feedback, coaching, and training opportunities to team members.

Financial and Strategic Planning

  • Develop and manage the operational budget, controlling costs and maximizing profitability.
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives, providing insights into production capabilities, capacity, and opportunities for growth.
  • Oversee procurement and vendor management, negotiating favorable terms for materials and services.

Customer Focus

  • Partner with sales and customer service teams to ensure client needs are met on time and to specification.
  • Proactively address operational challenges to minimize disruptions and maintain client satisfaction.


Qualifications


  • Minimum of 7–10 years in a leadership role within a tool-build or mold company.
  • Strong understanding of tool-making and injection molding processes
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management and cost-control strategies.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
