Job Title: Senior Manager - Patient Financial Services

Location: Dover, DE

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

General Summary:

The Senior Manager of Patient Financial Services will oversee all aspects of Accounts Receivable for the Patient Financial Services department. This role involves collaborating with other leaders throughout the organization to achieve departmental and system financial goals. The Senior Manager ensures that all accounts receivable, both billed and unbilled, move efficiently through the revenue cycle. The role also involves managing vendor performance, holding vendors accountable, and ensuring compliance with the No Surprise Act and other regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will have the ability to interface effectively with staff at all levels and possess strong leadership skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the department’s services through Managers, Supervisors, and staff.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop management teams to align with organizational values and professional development.
  • Organize work activities to meet schedules, deadlines, and goals related to billing, accounts receivable management, cash applications, denials, appeals, third-party payment variances, and quality assurance.
  • Implement and maintain departmental policies and procedures to support regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as an agent for change, identifying opportunities for improvement and championing new initiatives.
  • Ensure accountability in all areas of accounts receivable, including billing, follow-up, denials, and appeals.
  • Analyze trends in accounts receivable and implement solutions to improve cash collections and first-pass yield.
  • Ensure compliance with the No Surprise Act and federal and state regulations, including overseeing out-of-network plan reimbursement.
  • Participate in payer meetings and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Conduct vendor meetings, review invoices, and ensure timely performance and response to vendor needs.
  • Focus on cost control and reduction of departmental expenses.


Required Education, Credentials, and Experience:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Healthcare, Management, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role within hospital Patient Financial Services or equivalent revenue cycle consulting experience.
  • Additional Requirements: Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to influence and drive change within the department and organization.
