Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct various Safety Trainings including New Hire Orientation.
  • Investigate and prepare reports for all incidents including near-misses, occupational injuries, and property damage.
  • Assist in identifying, documenting, and correcting hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions throughout the facility. Follow through on corrective actions that are assigned.
  • Serve as the emergency point of contact for your assigned shift and render first aid as needed.
  • Act as the bridge of communication between 2nd shift and the EHS Manager.
  • Properly maintain all EHS records including permits, training logs, incident investigations, and programs.
  • Assist in the oversight of security operations including filling in for the receptionist as needed. This includes maintaining of the contractor and visitor logs.
  • Regularly perform rounds and make observations on the state of safety at the facility.
  • Ensure and enforce the compliance of all safety policies and expectations. Meet with team members from all departments to help coach and correct any deficiencies.
  • Order, maintain, and distribute PPE as needed while routinely checking that all PPE used is in good condition and effective.
  • Assist in Environmental activities including sampling, monitoring and applying for permits.
  • Conduct and participate in both internal and external EHS audits.
  • Work with various teams including city first responders during emergency events to ensure the safety of all our employees.
  • Attend meetings and perform additional administrative tasks as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Safety or related preferred; Education can be substituted with experience and/or certifications. (OSHA #511, #501, BCSP etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS or related fields. Preferably in General Industry.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations and standards, including OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and EPA/TCEQ. Bonus for knowledge in PSM for Ammonia systems.
  • Sound understanding of 29 CFR 1910 and its key programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with various Safety Management Software
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Desire to learn and grow.
