CLA is seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join a well-established law firm in Greenville, SC . This role will primarily support the healthcare team in managing the current caseload within the civil litigation department for medical malpractice defense. The ideal candidate will be responsible for independently handling case files and contributing to a highly successful litigation team. Only individuals with specific medical malpractice experience will be considered for this position.
Sample responsibilities:
- Preparation and service of Pleadings
- Organize and maintain case documents and databases
- Review case files and create medical chronologies
- Dictation and transcription of case-related information, including correspondence, reports, and legal documents
- Preparing first draft of discovery including drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production, and requests to admit
- Drafting and serving subpoenas
- Legal Document preparation and drafting including pleadings, motions, trial documents, etc.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and SC Civil Procedure requirements
- Must be comfortable with state and federal e-filing and service requirements
- Handling requests from insurance adjusters
- Responsible for meeting insurance reporting criteria
Minimum requirements and other qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of medical malpractice experience
- 2-3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
- Experience with insurance company billing requirements preferred
- Must have experience with dictation and transcription of legal documents and case-related materials
- Great customer service skills, both in-person and over the phone
- Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities, with a keen attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with others
