Job Description

We are seeking a Controls Technician who will support the effective use and functionality of automated equipment within a fully automated Distribution Center. This position diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electrical issues, performs system testing, and ensures efficient operation of Materials Handling Equipment (MHE). The technician collaborates with vendors and stakeholders for equipment and software improvements while adhering to compliance standards and fostering operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including single-phase and three-phase systems (up to 600 volts).
  • Troubleshoot and maintain components like AC/DC motors, frequency drives, servo drives, transformers, PLCs, HMI, and sensors.
  • Perform testing on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, and water treatment systems.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Develop and execute maintenance schedules for facility equipment and systems.

Technical Collaboration:

  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and CAD layouts.
  • Load programs or configure PLCs, HMIs, and scanners.
  • Install and set up computer hardware components such as hard drives, RAM, and network cards.

Operational Support:

  • Collaborate with MHE vendors for equipment upgrades and design improvements.
  • Manage spare parts inventory in a CMMS environment.
  • Communicate with management about critical situations and coordinate resolutions.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Assist in vendor bid development for maintenance contracts.
  • Supervise and develop Maintenance Support Specialists.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Technical vocational training or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience, with a strong electrical background preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with electrical and mechanical systems , including PLCs and HMIs.
  • Knowledge of testing equipment and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience with MHE software like RSLogix, Sort Director, and GSMi.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, IM).
