The position is part of the Family Office investment team and will work closely with the Principals, COO and Controller. The Investment Analyst will be responsible for providing analytical, modeling, and transactional support to Family Office leadership and key external stakeholders in researching new investment ideas and performing ongoing due diligence on existing investments. The Analyst will be heavily focused on private markets across venture capital, private equity, private credit, private real estate and infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills – ability to create and/or modify sophisticated financial models, analyze financial statements and financial forecasts, run discounted cash flow analysis, and create sensitivity/scenario analysis
• Strong memo / presentation writing and preparation skills
• Ability to undertake research regarding, and diligence of, potential investment opportunities and sectors, including primary funds, secondaries, co-investments and direct investments
• Coordinate all communication and data collection with specific underlying private investment managers • Provide ongoing analysis and written updates of specific investments and managers
• Assist with maintaining the Family Office’s investment reporting platform
• Ability to construct an argument around investment decisions and effectively communicate that argument both verbally and in written materials; be able to defend your position in a team environment, including in Investment Committee meetings
• Strong interpersonal skills – ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders and prepare advisory materials as required; and,
• Support Family Office leadership in the sourcing and management of investment opportunities Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• 1 to 3 years of experience at an investment bank, project finance firm, professional services firm, investment manager, Limited Partner, or in associated fields
• A bachelor’s degree ideally in a related field such as Business, Finance, Engineering or Economics • Prior exposure to private market investments strongly preferred
• Emotionally intelligent, interpersonal, polished and well-rounded with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently • Exceptional skills in leadership, time management, facilitation, and organization
• A demonstrated record of resilience, adaptability and clear bias for action
• A desire and ability to work in a consensus driven environment that requires a higher level than normal cross function communication
• A demonstrated ability to comfortably ‘shift gears’ and re-prioritize rapidly and often
• Desire to operate in a demanding, entrepreneurial and fast paced work environment
• Availability outside of normal business hours required frequently
• Advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required
