3D Grading Drafter/Civil Engineer

Salary Range: $80-$100k

100% onsite in Simi Valley

This role seeks an individual with a civil engineering background, CAD proficiency, and experience in project design and construction. It emphasizes technical skills, adaptability to learn, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Civil Engineer or a Designer proficient in grading and drainage design on industrial projects (fill sites, ponds, access roads, well pads, etc.) using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

The position of Civil Design Engineer requires a candidate with a strong background in civil engineering and proficiency in CAD tools. Below is a summary of the responsibilities, qualifications, and salary range for this role:

Responsibilities:

1. Project Design and Construction: Contribution to civil engineering projects including site development, roads, drainage improvements, and structural foundations.
2. Data Analysis and Planning: Analyzing survey reports, maps, and aerial photography for effective project planning.
3. Civil 3D Proficiency: Managing and creating 3D surfaces in AutoCAD Civil 3D for grading and drainage design.
4. Project Planning and Hydraulic Design: Leading project planning and emphasizing hydraulic and hydrology design.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Preparation of engineering drawings, reports, and proposals for projects.
6. Engineering Calculations: Computing engineering calculations for design specifications, such as load requirements and pipeline hydraulics.
7. Site Assistance: Supporting construction and maintenance activities at project sites and managing smaller projects.
8. Collaboration and Project Support: Assisting senior engineers in delivering larger projects and guiding draftspersons and technicians in converting designs into working drawings.

Requirements for the Role:

1. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to convey technical information effectively.
2. Learning Orientation: Desire and ability to learn new skills and work on multidiscipline design projects.
3. CAD Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of CAD design tools, specifically AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
4. Engineering Expertise: Understanding of earthwork design, site drainage, and grading for site development.
5. Site Visits and Travel: Ability to visit project sites for data gathering and occasional travel to client facilities.

Experience and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering.
• 3-7 years of related experience in civil engineering.
• Desired EIT certification with the goal of sitting for the California PE exam.
