General Summary:
The quality manager will participate in the management of the quality system to ensure customer satisfaction while improving process measurables. The quality manager will work closely with all departments to ensure continuous improvement and conformity to customer requirements.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining customer product quality requirements, maintaining the TS16949/IS09001 requirements and directing internal quality initiatives.
- Manages and directs all quality department personnel.
- Works in conjunction with the sales department for customer liaison and supplier development activities.
- Monitors process controls and performance and evaluates recommendations for process and equipment adjustments or changes.
- Monitors product/material evaluations and procedural or process control measures to ensure that all products conform to customer specifications.
- Manages, organizes and verifies the quality system.
- Develops and implements inspection and sampling techniques and quality control plans.
- Conducts investigations on product defects and recommends modifications in product or quality standards as warranted.
- Interacts with and visits customers and suppliers when necessary to confer on quality issues.
- Maintains the corrective action system, both internal and external.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of Quality Systems, such as IATF 16949/ISO.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work in and encourage a team environment and facilitate change when necessary.
- Working knowledge of quality practices and principles.
- Proficient knowledge of PC software applications including Word, Excel, 4D, Docushare and mainframe software (e.g., Blis-400).
- Strong background in statistical techniques.
- Strong knowledge of automotive and non-automotive PPAP/ISIR, MSA, APQP, SPC, Control Plans and other relative requirements.
- Proficient in GD&T and blueprint reading.
- Ability to utilize problem solving methodology such as , 5-Why, 3-legged 5-Why, or 8D.
- Strong ability to analyze complex situations and make timely decisions.
- Knowledge of foundry products and characteristics.
- Knowledge of casting processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of casting defects and related causes and solutions.
- Knowledge of chemical analysis methods
Working Conditions
The Quality Manager will reside in the office and on the production floor. Must be able to adhere to conditions of the plant.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and on their feet 50% on the production floor.
- Must be able to move about inside the office and in the plant.
- This position will operate a computer and other machinery in the plant.
- Must be able to frequently communicate with employees and other individuals in person and telephone.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Engineering or technical degree or ASQ certification preferred.
- 5-10 years of quality management experience.
- Gray and ductile Iron foundry experience preferred.
