Location: Main Location Wausau, Wisconsin with some travel to our Las Vegas and Plymouth, MN locations.
Job Purpose: Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement, the Electro-Mechanical Technician will safely troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment across all WCP locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all Company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Represent Wausau Coated Products, Inc. professionally at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area in line with Company policies.
- Conduct tests on electromechanical assemblies using instrumentation, technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, including controls, drives, and PLCs.
- Inspect component parts to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Install electrical and electronic parts and hardware.
- Develop, analyze, and test PLC programs for industrial equipment.
- Assemble, repair, and rework pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
- Fit and assemble component parts using hand tools and fixtures.
- Consult with the Manager on production equipment projects and needs.
- Operate metalworking machines to fabricate production machine components.
- Position, install, test, and train on equipment servicing requirements.
- Advise on parts and tool purchases and necessary services.
- Update drawings and diagrams as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement.
- Travel to all WCP locations as needed.
- Participate in a 1-week 2nd shift rotation every 8 weeks.
Education/Experience:
- Associate degree or vocational education in Electromechanical Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of equipment or maintenance support experience.
Specific Skills, Licensure, and Certifications:
- Strong communication skills with co-workers to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Ability to follow directions and read schematics, blueprints, and other drawings.
- Critical thinking skills to assess solutions and approaches to issues.
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware/software.
- Familiarity with equipment engineering principles and practices.
- Flexibility to work 8-9 hour shifts, including weekends and on-call duties.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.
