The firm has been in business since 1970, and operate on a regional basis with projects throughout the Midwest. They focus on multifamily, historic renovations and mixed-use projects, ranging from $8M - $40M in value.
They seek a Senior Project Manager, that will focus on the Detroit market and oversee key projects for the business. The firm has a steady backlog, through 2027, with 2 key ground up builds starting in 2025.
This role will report directly to the Vice President of Construction.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the full lifecycle of multifamily, high-rise construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources for projects valued between $10M and $40M.
- Collaborate with design teams, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders during pre-construction to align on project goals and specifications.
- Negotiate and execute contracts with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
- Monitor project progress, address delays, and implement recovery plans to maintain schedule integrity.
- Lead project meetings, including progress updates, problem-solving sessions, and coordination with stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards.
- Manage risk assessments and mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.
- Prepare regular reports detailing project status, financial performance, and any critical issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on multifamily and/or high-rise projects.
- Proven track record of managing construction projects valued at $10M or more.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project delivery processes.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and other construction management tools.
- Exceptional leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and build lasting client relationships.
- Familiarity with green building practices and LEED certification (preferred).
Compensation & Benefit Information
- Salary between $130,000 - $160,000, dependent on experience
