Your contribution
The temporary safety assistant provides administrative support to the Safety & Compliance Department and aids in maintaining the fleet’s safety and compliance posture.
What you’ll do
The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- ·Establish a file for each accident, tractor damage, trailer damage, and miscellaneous damage claims.
- Maintain the US Department of Transportation mandated Accident Register.
- Interacts on a daily basis with Risk Management Division regarding but not limited to information exchange concerning accident file contents.
- Interacts with Fleet Maintenance regarding damaged tractors and trailers as a result of an accident.
- Generate check requests and use charge account to obtain police accident reports.
- Type driver Preventable and Non-Preventable letters.
- Maintains the owner operator tractor registration and TWIC card database.
- Assembles data and produces the monthly Accident Register for distribution.
- Type and maintain the monthly Motorists Complaints Report. Maintains list of involved drivers.
- Interacts with insurance broker regarding Certificates of Insurance involving owner operators renting or buying tractors.
- New York City parking tickets. Sorts, reconciles, interacts with ticket companies, maintains a spreadsheet, and prepares monthly compilation for payment and generates check requests.
- Maintains fleet tractor database and drivers database.
- Interacts with the Safety Supervisors on a daily basis.
- Completes department correspondence, reports and tasks as assigned by the Manager, Safety & Compliance.

- Outstanding telephone etiquette, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without constant direct supervision
- Good software skills; Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required

- Ability to proactively interact with individuals throughout Wakefern and outside the company
