About the Role:


Fitzrovia is seeking to hire a Café Manager to join our team. The Café Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our in-house Café Bar, No. 10 Dean. No. 10 Dean serves a diverse array of offerings, including coffee, wine, beer, cocktails, and snacks, all crafted with a focus on the highest quality ingredients and execution to meet the exacting standards of our residents and guests.


The Café Manager will work closely with, and report to the Senior Manager, Hospitality and lead a team of Baristas. This role will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shops, promoting coffee and alcohol consumption by educating residents and guests, and assisting with the preparation and service of a variety of coffee and tea beverages, a full wine, beer and cocktail offering, as well as pastries and small snacks.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Consistently provide exceptional hospitality, actively seeking opportunities to exceed guest expectations
  • Address and resolve customer complaints or concerns, demonstrating effective problem-solving skills and maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Closely monitor the shop's profitability and devise inventive methods to enhance it
  • Expertly prepare and serve a diverse range of beverages, setting a high standard for the team in precision and presentation, and ensuring consistency across all team members
  • Lead the innovation and regular menu update, introducing new items and ensuring the online offering is regularly monitored and updated
  • Manage the scheduling, training, and supervision of the Barista team, actively participating in these activities to maintain a high level of service and team efficiency
  • Encourage teamwork and cultivate a harmonious working environment, leading by example and promoting collaborative efforts
  • Oversee stock levels and manage ordering processes, actively participating in inventory management to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Handle invoice management in accordance with Fitzrovia’s filing system, ensuring proper tracking and accuracy of recipe costs
  • Take a hands-on approach in balancing cash, completing balance sheets, cash reports, and related forms, and oversee the team's adherence to these financial practices
  • Manage cash handling and payments, guaranteeing transaction precision and proper financial closing procedures
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers, directly influencing interactions to ensure long-term partnerships
  • Actively ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
  • Maintain the bar area's cleanliness and organization, ensuring high hygiene and ingredient handling standards
  • Collaborate with the site team for 10 DEAN and Property Events, providing direct support and guidance in developing offerings



Qualifications and Experiences:


  • Bachelors degree, Diploma or Certificate in hospitality management is an asset
  • Knowledge of cocktails, beer and wine is an asset
  • 1-2 years of previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced food and beverage operation
  • 2-3 years of barista and specialty coffee experience
  • Food Handlers’ and Smart Serve Certified
  • Hospitality-driven, positive attitude, able to provide outstanding customer service
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Confidence with espresso machines and creating a variety of beverages
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team
  • Passionate about food and beverage, especially coffee and wine service
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated, curious, responsive, and result driven.
  • Strong teamwork, decision & problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
