We are a well-established company with a family atmosphere and we’re looking for an innovative hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer who is results driven and enjoys creative problem solving to become a member of our highly experienced team. In this role you can expect to utilize fundamental engineering strategies to design and validate new and existing products. This role will work closely with the Sales, Operations, Design, and Supply Chain teams to design, document, source, and build both clean sheet designs and components.
The candidate will also interact with key vendors and suppliers directly. This team member would have experience prioritizing and supporting changing design requirements in a dynamic product development process and have strong program management experience. A major part of the role will be analyzing, modeling, and drafting new components utilizing the engineering CAE suite (Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and ANSYS) from start to finish in conjunction with building and testing physical samples.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Qualified candidates must have a BSME with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in product design, preferably in a structural manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of 3-D CAD modeling software. Siemens NX experience preferred.
• Experience in finite element analysis a plus.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes with focus on Lean Manufacturing, Value Stream mapping, and VA/VE process including welding and assembly techniques required.
• ISO/APQP knowledge with capability to perform FMEA (design and process), develop process flows and work with manufacturing to develop production process.
• Demonstrated analytic and empirical problem-solving skills.
• Must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Thorough understanding of design for manufacturability and serviceability a must.
• Must be able to interface with customers, sales and production personnel on projects as required.
• Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Project, Access, PowerPoint, etc...).
• Statistical knowledge for Life cycle calculations
RESPONSIBILITIES
• The selected engineer will have a high level of self-initiative, with an ability to plan, manage tasks, conceptualize, and implement ideas with minimal supervision.
• Candidate must work well as a member of a team and adapt well to a changing environment. A positive, can-do attitude is required.
• Represent the Design Engineering Team with professionalism and integrity when communicating with the customer, cross functional teams, as well as the entire organization.
• Research, develop, design, and test mechanical parts, components, and assemblies needed for prototypes and final products. Assist in developing and implementing design procedures.
• Assist in all functions required to generate Bills of Materials and process ECR’s /ECN’s for product requirements.
• Focus on developing and implementing cost saving ideas including research, selection and validation of outsourced products.
• Support manufacturing floor through lean manufacturing events as well as sales and purchasing functions as required.
• Assist in warranty analysis to improve existing products by analyzing and finding root cause and designing solutions to address field issues.
• Work toward developing overall responsibility for the design team; that could include engineers, and designers.
