Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our NYC team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of post-education experience designing mechanical systems for the built environment and a proven track record in leading projects from concept through construction. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, a high level of proficiency in design tools, and the ability to mentor junior team members.


Key Responsibilities:

  • • Mechanical System Design:
  • • Design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems for buildings and infrastructure, ensuring energy-efficient and code-compliant solutions.
  • • Develop comprehensive design drawing packages independently, with a focus on quality and precision.
  • • Project Leadership:
  • • Manage small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours, managing budgets, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, ensuring adherence to QA/QC standards.
  • • Tools & Modeling:
  • • Generate and manage drawing sets using Autodesk design products.
  • • Perform hydraulic modeling using tools like Pipe-Flo and/or AFT Fathom.
  • • Conduct load modeling utilizing Microsoft Excel, Trane Trace 700, IESVE, or eQUEST (experience with IES is preferred).
  • • Collaboration & Communication:
  • • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and clients to achieve project goals.
  • • Review and mark up drawings using Bluebeam PDF software.
  • • Create and deliver technical presentations using Excel and PowerPoint.


Qualifications:

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience designing mechanical systems for buildings.
  • • Proficient in Autodesk design products, hydraulic modeling software (Pipe-Flo/AFT), and load modeling tools (IES preferred).
  • • Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and engineering principles.
  • • Proven ability to independently manage design/build projects and generate comprehensive documentation.
  • • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in leading and mentoring teams.
