Job Description

Kelly Government Solutions is seeking an individual to work as a Senior Scientific Technical Writer (Neuroscience/Psychology) at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Role is estimated to support a hybrid work arrangement that may include on-site work at the NIH in Bethesda, MD.


This is a long-term contract position which offers:

KEY TASKS

(1) Support the Office of the Director within the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) with the preparation of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and other related documents.

(2) Draft language for a variety of scientific and technical documents including speeches, reports, briefing materials, articles, and manuscripts; route information toward specific or multiple audiences such as the general public, government officials, researchers, healthcare professionals.

(3) Prepare presentations; organize data in various forms such as high-quality figures, graphics, tables, illustrations and PowerPoint presentations for general and science-based organizations.

(4) Perform a variety of scientific editing, proofreading, and fact checking for letters, memoranda and any assigned materials; obtain appropriate clearances as necessary.

(5) Conduct extensive research on topics; search neuroscience research journals, online sources and databases such as PubMed.

(6) Review recent reports, articles, press releases, and other source materials related to drug use, its consequences, and underlying biological, social, and behavioral mechanisms in order to write scientific and technical materials and prepare PowerPoint presentations.

(7) Gather data from NIH program-specific databases such as RePORTER and IMPAC II; write papers and prepare PowerPoint presentations.

(8) Review, analyze, and interpret data to develop analytical and factual materials and prepare summaries of NIDA activities from background documents such as scientific/program reports and presentations.


KEY REQUIREMENTS

(1) Master's or Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, Communications, Public Health, or related discipline

(2) Strong writing and editing skills to analyze, interpret, and translate information related to all aspects of drug use and addiction for a variety of audiences

(3) Experience analyzing scientific data to generate reports, briefing materials, speeches, and presentations
