Position Overview:
Gravity IT is seeking a Junior System Administrator who will work as part of a team providing technical support for internal, branch employees throughout the United States and Canada. You will also assist in maintaining and monitoring a large, distributed network of servers and backups.
- Duties & Responsibilities:
- Answering and resolving tickets in the Microsoft O365 environment.
- Create, change, and remove Active Directory user accounts.
- Support Microsoft 365 E-mail, shared mailboxes, and distribution lists.
- Support and troubleshoot hardware.
- Build, configure, and repair new or existing hardware.
- Install operating systems and software.
- Monitor daily backups, ensure all data is backed up successfully.
- Respond to failed backups and file restore requests.
- Support SharePoint sites.
- Provide Tier III support.
- Create and maintain technical and non-technical network documentation
- Providing first level support of hardware issues and working with 3rd party providers the administer support.
- Deploy patches and updates to production systems in accordance with our security policy.
- Support and troubleshoot issues related to patches and updates.
- Cross train to backup other server admins with the following responsibilities.
- Support and troubleshoot hardware (Server/UPS) and coordinate repairs with remote office and third-party maintenance.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up.
- Provide support for document scanning hardware/software in a large and widely distributed environment.
- Create, change, and delete Active Directory user accounts per request.
- Provide Tier III/other support
- Create and maintain technical and non-technical network documentation
- Required Experience & Skills:
- Be familiar with threats, patches, and updates related to Windows server environments and deployed server software
- Familiar with System Administration or system patching.
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Windows Server, and Active Directory.
- Knowledge of system hardware, experience replacing internal computer hardware components.
- Experience with remote troubleshooting and hardware repair or replacement.
- Working knowledge of computer / server hardware components
- Experience building, repairing, and installing computers / servers
- Working knowledge of the Windows operating system, both PC and Server versions
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- General Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DHCP
- General Knowledge of basic networking.
- Experience with remote troubleshooting and hardware repair or replacement.
- Working knowledge of basic scripting including batch, and PowerShell
