As a Purchasing Agent , you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in purchasing and procurement to support SVM’s commercial projects. The Purchasing Agent will specialize within a specific commodity and purchase materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for the successful completion of our projects.

What You Will Do

• Source and procure plumbing and piping materials, equipment, and supplies according to project requirements and budget, ensuring timely arrival and communicating lead times to relevant team members.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project needs and timelines.
• Create Purchase Orders (POs) based on requisitions and supply requests; gather recommendations from suppliers for substitute items when necessary and partner with appropriate personnel for approval.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Maintain an understanding of parts and market trends associated with commodity assigned.
• Research product pricing and market trends for commodity assigned to ensure delivery/terms align with project needs.
• Utilize resources to ensure specialty products are ordered and delivered within designated time constraints.
• Verify receipt of items and compare items received to items ordered.
• Review and resolve invoices for discrepancies with supplier.
• Effectively guide Purchasing Assistant to support tasks as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
• Inform management of upcoming pricing changes related to assigned commodities.
• Cross train and learn purchasing processes for multiple commodities.
• Assist the Purchasing Department with other duties as business requires.

Education, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred , High School Diploma or GED required .
• 1+ years of experience in purchasing or similar role required .
• Proven experience purchasing HVAC, plumbing, or piping materials or equivalent materials required.
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills required.
• Proven proficiency in various office equipment and programs including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) required.
• Demonstrates professionalism and the highest level of customer service a must.
• Ability to work independently, maintain organization and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment required.
• Proven ability to negotiate with vendors required.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply product knowledge a must.
• Experience with Viewpoint or other accounting software preferred.

Compensation & Company Benefits Include:

This is a salaried, full-time exempt position. The compensation for this role is $70,000-$100,000 annually and is based on experience and skillset.
