Chief Executive Officer (CEO)


Location : Calgary, Alberta


Our client is a reputable consulting firm serving the resource industries in Alberta, British Columbia, and internationally for over three decades. They provide tailored geophysical services to mining, oil and gas, government, and engineering sectors. These services include geophysical surveys, data processing and interpretation, and expert studies. As a small to medium-sized Canadian firm, they leverage the resources and expertise of a global engineering and consulting service provider with over 1,000 employees worldwide. This international partnership enables the company to deliver a broad spectrum of services, including resource exploration, mining, civil engineering, infrastructure, process engineering, building safety, and testing and measurement technology.


We are seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization and drive growth within the Alberta and British Columbia markets. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in executive leadership within the resource sector, a strategic vision for growth, and the ability to foster a culture of excellence and innovation.


Key Responsibilities

As CEO, you will:

  • Develop and execute the company’s strategic goals and objectives in alignment with its vision and market opportunities.
  • Drive business development and growth initiatives, focusing on expanding the company's presence in the Alberta and British Columbia markets.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set long-term strategies and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring the optimization of business processes and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to track organizational performance and implement improvements as necessary
  • Manage financial performance, including P&L responsibilities, revenue growth, cost management, and profitability.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to achieve organizational goals while fostering a positive and inclusive company culture.
  • Oversee talent acquisition strategies to attract top-tier talent and reduce employee turnover.
  • Create professional development plans to nurture internal talent and build leadership capacity within the organization.
  • Represent the company as the public face, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry leaders.
  • Collaborate with the management team and external stakeholders to execute business expansion strategies and identify new market opportunities.
  • Leverage expertise in the oil and gas industry to strengthen client relationships and expand service offerings
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements within Canada and globally.
  • Report directly to the Board of Directors while maintaining mandatory interaction with shareholder companies and business unit functions.
  • Drive occupational safety initiatives to uphold the highest job security and workplace safety standards.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (mandatory).
  • MBA or equivalent qualification (preferred).
  • Proven track record in a senior executive role, ideally as a CEO or equivalent in the resource industry.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, profitability, and organizational expansion.
  • Strong industry expertise in the oil and gas sector, particularly within the Calgary market.
  • Experience working within a matrix organization is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning abilities.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Expertise in managing diverse teams, fostering collaboration, and inspiring innovation.
  • Analytical decision-making skills with a results-oriented mindset.
