Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 (negotiable based on skills and experience)


About Us: Our client is a Florida non-profit pro bono law firm dedicated to meeting the legal needs of a large, diverse, multiethnic community across Broward County. Their mission is to provide high-quality, free civil legal advice, representation, and education to the disadvantaged of Broward County. With over 125 employees, including more than 50 attorneys, they offer free services and resources across a broad range of civil legal issues that impact health, safety, and self-sufficiency.


Position Summary: In this role, you will advocate for children suspected of having disabilities or who are already identified as having a disability. You will assist them in accessing appropriate educational services and public benefits, serving both community families and children in the foster care system. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience and a background in children's law, education, psychology, the medical field, and/or related services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for children with disabilities to ensure they receive appropriate educational services and public benefits.
  • Serve both community families and children in the foster care system.
  • Conduct legal assessments and manage a large caseload.
  • Provide high-quality legal representation and education.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Occasionally work beyond a minimum seven-hour workday, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar.
  • Experience serving low-income communities preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve.
  • Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally in a highly stressful environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • The ability to speak more than one language is a plus.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary range of $60,000 to $65,000, negotiable based on skills and experience.
