About Our Client: Our client is a Florida non-profit pro bono law firm dedicated to meeting the legal needs of a large, diverse, multiethnic community across Broward County. Their mission is to provide high-quality, free civil legal advice, representation, and education to the disadvantaged of Broward County. With over 125 employees, including more than 50 attorneys, they offer free services and resources across a broad range of civil legal issues that impact health, safety, and self-sufficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individual immigration consultations and know-your-rights presentations to immigrant communities.
- Represent clients before various agencies, including immigration court, ICE, USCIS, and state and federal courts, in applications and advocacy for relief from removal.
- Engage with allied community organizations, including presenting community education programs.
- Participate in the preparation of grant and billing reports.
Qualifications:
- Active membership in a State Bar (does not have to be Florida).
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Preferably 1-3 years of relevant experience in immigration law.
- Experience serving low-income communities preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated capacity to exhibit appropriate sensitivity to and empathy for individuals who have survived traumatic experiences.
- Passionate about serving immigrants and vulnerable populations.
- Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally in a highly stressful environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Ability to balance and manage a variety of responsibilities.
- Strong commitment to social, economic, and racial justice.
- Ability to speak Spanish or another language in addition to English is a plus.
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary range of $60,000 to $65,000, negotiable based on skills and experience.
