Location – Denver, Colorado


Job Description

Knott Laboratory, LLC is seeking a full-time Forensic Structural Engineer in Denver, Colorado. The Structural Engineer will work with the Knott Laboratory team to investigate residential and commercial cases involving property damaged by fire, flood, moisture intrusion, inadequate drainage, pipe failure, corrosion, hail, wind, mold, soil subsidence, foundation failure, structural member failure, vehicle collision and construction defect. The Structural Engineer will serve as the project manager, maintaining client communication, conducting site inspections, and developing design plans to accomplish the client’s goals. This is a remote position for an individual located anywhere in Colorado. Inspections are onsite and the remainder of the week is worked remotely (from the employee home office). Our remote culture remains highly collaborative with regular team meetings and an interactive peer review process.

Knott Laboratory is a forensic engineering firm with 40 years of experience partnering with our clients to investigate building failures and deficiencies. Knott Laboratory Forensic Engineers regularly serve as expert witnesses providing prelitigation and post-litigation consulting, analysis and exhibits for depositions and jury trials.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years Structural Engineering or Forensic Engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer in Colorado, or PE licensure elsewhere and the ability to obtain CO PE.
  • Resident of Denver, CO or the immediate vicinity.
  • B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
  • M.S. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Competent with ACAD, and/or Revit drafting software, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PPT)
  • Experience in Construction and Structural Engineering with foundational experiences in design, structural or forensic engineering.
  • Technical report writing experience.
  • Passionate and self-motivated with the ability to work remotely and balance multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.


Compensation

  • Salary: $90,000-125,000
  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Work Remotely: Yes, Hybrid – work from home up to 50% of the time
  • Field Work/Project Site Visits: up to 40% of time
