CalWest's partner school in the San Francisco Bay Area seeks an Upper School Math Teacher to begin August 2025.

Qualifications:

Required education and experience

  • At least three years of math teaching experience in a school setting OR other relevant academic teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred education and experience

  • Master's degree
  • At least 5 years of teaching mathematics
  • Independent high school experience
  • Experience as an advisor, coach, or club sponsor

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit a passion for content knowledge and a range of effective pedagogical approaches
  • Incorporate a variety of pedagogical approaches, including inquiry-based, according to the needs of the group of students
  • Demonstrate commitment to equitable and culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and challenging learning environment that reflects the school's core values and allows our diverse student body to grow and thrive
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop innovative and meaningful curriculum and programming
  • Integrate technology in effective ways that enhance students’ learning experiences and growth
  • Actively work with the Math Department Chair, and the Director of Teaching and Learning to participate in yearly growth plans and instructional support strategies
  • Actively work with the Director with the Director of Academic Support regarding the needs of students of students with formal educational plans, and other students needing additional support
  • Serve as an advisor who is committed to the social and emotional development of students
  • Bring unique skills to contribute to our multifaceted community outside of the classroom
  • Engages in professional development and is committed to furthering 6-12 alignment across the department
  • Required to attend the start of year retreat; this is an overnight retreat for students by grade level
  • Attend New PAC orientation and PAC WEEK prior to the start of school for students, as well as participate in other mandatory school events
