Position Summary:

As a Structural Concrete Superintendent at Argus Properties, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing complex structural concrete construction projects. Based in Kelowna, BC, this position involves overseeing teams, ensuring project quality, safety, and efficiency, and delivering high-quality results aligned with client expectations and company standards.

You will provide technical expertise and leadership, translate project plans into actionable workflows, and foster a culture of safety, innovation, and collaboration. Your responsibilities will include managing a team of Carpenters while maintaining clear communication with clients, engineers, and project managers. Success in this role requires extensive experience with concrete structures, proficiency in formwork systems, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and team development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical ability and leadership to oversee complex structural concrete projects.
  • Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections.
  • Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of crews.
  • Work with crews to overcome challenges.
  • Follow project plans and budget while meeting performance goals.
  • Translate drawings, specifications, and work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
  • Understand the scope and sequencing of work.
  • Build a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching, and team building.
  • Ensure completed work meets quality standards.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience with concrete, rebar, and formwork.
  • B.Sc. in engineering, construction management, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven expertise in managing suspended slab projects, including columns, other load bearing concrete structures, tilt-up panels, and slab-on grade.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of scaffolding systems used in suspended slab construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles related to suspended slabs and concrete structures.
  • Familiarity with formwork systems, rebar detailing, and concrete placement techniques.
  • proficiency in construction management software and productivity tools.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Experience in team building, training, coaching, and providing clear instructions to crews.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, engineers, and project managers.
  • Advanced understanding of workplace safety regulations and best practices in concrete construction.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections and leading safety meetings.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Flexibility to work evening shifts and weekends to meet project schedules.
