Position Summary
Argus Properties is hiring Journeyman Painters to support our growing team in Kelowna, BC. Working under the direction of the Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint, stains, and coatings, and ensuring high-quality finishes on a variety of projects. The role requires precision, efficiency, and a strong sense of accountability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain painting tools, equipment, and supplies without supervision.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming as required.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate color matching and compliance with project requirements.
- Remove old paint or finishes using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Repair cracks, holes, or other surface imperfections prior to painting.
- Protect surrounding areas and surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape.
- Maintain, clean, and organize workspaces and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
- Supervise and instruct apprentices or helpers as needed.
- Adhere to all health and safety standards and complete required documentation.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Painter or equivalent experience.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
- Valid Driver's License with ability to travel frequently with projects.
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and tools.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- High standard of ethical conduct and professionalism.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Workload is moderate to high.
- Frequently exposed to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
- Work schedule is typically Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexibility to meet project demands, including evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a field environment.
- Moderate to high level of physical activity.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. frequently and work on ladders or scaffolding.
