Director of IT


Our client is a global pharmaceutical company with US operations. This role will be supporting a successful and established and growing pharmaceutical business. The Director of IT will be responsible for ensuring seamless IT service delivery across all infrastructure operations, providing leadership in incident and escalation management, and upholding high standards of support. This role oversees end-to-end support processes, monitors key performance indicators, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in IT service delivery. This role will play a critical role in resolving escalations, enhancing operational efficiencies, and ensuring a robust, reliable IT infrastructure to support business needs. This role offers the opportunity to lead teams, optimize platforms, and shape modern software practices in a dynamic and collaborative pharmaceutical business environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical leadership and drives innovation in solution development for enterprise platform teams, guiding software engineering in implementing and customizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms.
  • This role will involve working with a legacy system and the upgrade to a new ERP system. This will involve working cross collaboratively with key stakeholders to make sure systems gaps are addressed and to actively manage projects to make sure new ERP system is meeting the demands of the business.
  • Provide vendor selection and management for IT vendors delivering software or services.
  • Collaborate closely with business partners to foster a strong working relationship to deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Understand the IT infrastructure design and plan and ensure the architecture is adhered to.
  • Manage budget and provide regular forecasts for project and operational costs.
  • Deliver short term needs of business partners with process and technology solutions.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with the organization on implementations, outages, and changes in tools and processes.
  • Participate in IT activities with other parts of the organization as necessary and expected within a growing organization.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with other members of the IT organization to facilitate a unified team.
  • Implement, and maintain IT service management (ITSM) frameworks and processes, ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards (e.g., ITIL).
  • Manage and continuously improve service level agreements (SLAs), operational level agreements (OLAs), and key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet business requirements.
  • Oversee IT change, incident, and problem management processes, ensuring consistent, effective responses to IT service needs and minimizing disruption.
  • Implement and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical IT systems.
  • Ensure regular backups and redundancy mechanisms are in place to safeguard data integrity.
  • Facilitate workshops to collect business requirements, validate and document business requirements.
  • Work closely with implementation partners, perform detailed analysis of complex business process requirements and provide appropriate system solutions/best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in digital technology, including 10 years leading teams and 5 years in senior roles managing large ERP and platform implementations using modern digital practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Extensive experience managing digital teams, developing ERP strategies, and leading large-scale IT platforms like ERP and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems in a pharmaceutical environment

Proven success in project management, strategic planning, and business integrations, with pharmaceutical industry expertise.
