Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved LPN/LVN training programnnEducation : Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by the Commission on Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) or another acceptable accreditation body outlined in the TO.nnCertifications in addition to Basic Life Support : NonennExperience : One year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduationnnLicensure : Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nursennCore Duties:nnInitiate, perform and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populationsnnComplete assigned patient care based on the patients’ conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient informationnnObserve, identify and respond to the patient’s needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family educationnnPrepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/proceduresnnRecognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directednnPerform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient’s condition before, during, and following the procedurennOrient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practicennIntegrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patient healthcare delivery, education of patients and their families and employee satisfactionnnSpecific Tasks:nnServes as a practical nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelinesnnPerforms a variety of diagnostic procedures; sets up procedure room and equipment; provides individualized patient teaching on a preventative healthcare and health maintenancennPrepares and administers prescribed medications by oral, sublingual, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, topical, dermal and inhalation routesnnPrepares and positions patient for examinations and treatments. Participates in in-services and continuing education programsnnEstablishes and maintains good interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers, and other health team membersnnEnsure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shiftnnEnsure preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directednnEnsure a safe work environment and employee safe work habitsnnThe nurse shall provide patients with the utmost care and attention. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignitynnThe nurse shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF, to include, but not limited to, timeliness, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF, Air Force, or DHA-approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of the patient health recordnnShall be able to read, understand, speak, and write English well enough to communicate effectively and be a United States citizennnMust have, as a minimum, a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certificate or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) from an accredited national, state or military trained equivalent schoolnnShall have and maintain an active, valid, current, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in a US jurisdictionnnKnowledge of standard nursing care principles, procedures, and practicesnnBenefits :nnVirtual InterviewsnnVariable of locations throughout the United States.nnContract: Year-long assignmentnnHours of Performance: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday.
