Job Description

Become the Marketing & Communications Director at McCann Worldgroup. We spend so much time helping our clients tell their stories we can sometimes neglect to tell our own.

We’re looking for someone to help us change that. Someone who will bring an enthusiasm and energy to help build McCann and MRM’s profile in Canada, and around the world. Someone with a healthy dose of spirited storytelling to promote our mission of helping clients earn a meaningful role in people’s lives. Someone who’s proactive and can get stuff done – that comes with experience in developing and executing internal and external communications that will get us noticed by the press, prospective clients and employees- across a variety of channels and platforms. If this sounds like you, read on!

What you’ll do

  • Create and execute internal and external communications that drive presence and growth through social, press, and digital storytelling – and that promotes the agency’s work, talent, and culture.
  • Lead the execution of McCann Worldgroup Canada’s owned social channels across LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram, including paid and organic marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities. Responsibilities include curating and managing all published content, including working closely with Account Leadership Teams and the ELT to craft original, engaging and on-brand copy to reach target audiences, and providing guidance for and assisting in the development of creative assets. Own reporting across all social platforms, monitoring real-time traffic and pivoting and optimizing campaigns in response to engagement. Partner with internal media & socials team on paid and organic strategy.
  • Support promotion of tentpole events with marketing materials including deck development.
  • Develop and execute an executive profiling program to keep our leaders top of mind with media and the industry. This would include, but not be limited to, pitching and identifying industry stages for talent including award show jury participation, building and maintaining partnerships with conferences and shows to identify joint-marketing and commercial opportunities and thought leadership platforms.
  • Assist with agency and talent award submissions, including publication evaluations with guidance from senior leaders. Keep an active calendar of opportunities and build new ones, where possible.
  • Maintain and build upon media lists (including news, trade and culture) and communications calendars to track press coverage and plan awards submissions, communications programs, social promotions, events, and experiences, and execute against assets and timelines accordingly.
  • Collaborate with our executives on thought leadership development and pitching, including providing editorial feedback along with content and press strategy.
  • Support communications coordination across the McCann Worldgroup network and work cross-functionally with agency teams (recruiting, operations, etc.) on various internal and external efforts.
  • On an ongoing basis, develop relationships with key agency talent to mine for, and curate, opportunities to get McCann Worldgroup noticed.

We’re looking for strong, impactful work experience, which typically includes:

  • +5 years of PR &/or corporate communications experience, experience in an agency setting, experience in advertising is a plus.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to develop relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a natural storyteller with persuasive writing skills and a passion for editorial and grammatical excellence.
  • A passion for creativity and our industry’s creative product.
  • The ability to create effective communications strategies and compelling messaging to connect with internal and external audiences.
  • Proficiency in and knowledge of PowerPoint and Keynote required and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite programs like Photoshop (or Sketch or Canva), InDesign and Illustrator preferred.
