About Pine

At Pine, we're all about transforming the outdated and complicated home financing process, and creating a simpler, faster, and better experience for Canadians. How? With innovative technology and talented, understanding people.

We strive to have a culture where everyone shares ideas and gives input, takes ownership, feels valued and takes pride in their work. We work hard and play hard!

We have strong financial backing from some of North America’s most sought after VC’s and we’re ready to disrupt the Canadian Mortgage Market in a HUGE way!

About the Team

As a Front End Developer, you will report to the Chief Technology Officer and collaborate closely with Pine’s engineering team to bring your work to life.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Work on a cross-functional with our engineering team
  • Participate in technical design and planning discussions
  • Collaborate with our entire product team
  • Uphold standards for quality by performing code reviews, fixing bugs, creating automated tests, and monitoring performance

We’re excited about you because…

  • You write high-quality, testable code and make thoughtful tradeoffs between speed and maintainability, recognizing the balance between fast delivery and sustainable solutions.
  • You're highly skilled in JavaScript and continuously work to deepen your expertise in modern front-end frameworks, especially React and Next.js.
  • React is second nature to you, and you're adept with Next.js 14+ features, including the app router and foundational concepts in both React and Next.js.
  • Testing is part of your workflow, and you're comfortable using React Testing Library and Jest to ensure your code is reliable, maintainable, and thoroughly tested.
  • Git is your version control tool of choice, and you follow best practices for branching, merging, and managing code through the release cycle.
  • Accessibility is fundamental to your development process, and you have experience testing and delivering inclusive code for diverse audiences.
  • You communicate effectively, explaining technical concepts clearly to designers, support staff, and other engineers.
  • Problem-solving is a strength of yours; when issues arise, you're quick to diagnose and resolve them with a calm, analytical approach.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

We’re committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company. That’s why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table.
