Electrical Maintenance Engineer

About the Role:

You will play a key role within the Research & Development team, contributing to the advancement of critical projects aimed at enhancing sustainability and technological innovation. As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer located in New Kensington, PA, your responsibilities will include implementing, enhancing, and troubleshooting electrical systems.

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of power systems at the technical center.
  • Develop proposals for the application of new power distribution equipment in compliance with building codes and internal standards.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve existing electrical systems.
  • Perform power system load flow analysis using ETAP simulation software (preferred but not required).
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary internal teams and external contractors during hands-on troubleshooting and project execution activities.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and recommend electrical and reliability improvements.
  • Lead high voltage audit activities to ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Uphold core values in all aspects of work, demonstrating integrity, operational excellence, care for people, and courageous leadership.

What You Can Bring to This Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with ETAP or similar Power Distribution Analysis Software is a plus.
  • Proven working experience in industrial electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical and power distribution systems, technologies, and standards/codes.
  • Ability to manage contractor relationships, including scope development, obtaining estimates, and verifying completed work.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including hands-on problem-solving under time constraints.
  • Commitment to safety around electrical equipment, including identifying hazards, selecting proper PPE, and following Lock-Tag-Verify procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Oracle.
  • Capability to conduct arc flash, power analysis studies, and short circuit studies.
  • Hands-on experience with low voltage (<600V) and high voltage (>600V) equipment in industrial environments.
  • Ability to write and develop safe work and switching procedures for high voltage power distribution equipment and operations.

Additional Notes:

  • This position reports to the Breakthrough Technologies M&R Manager.
  • Travel requirements: Up to 15%.
  • Periodic work in noisy and dusty conditions, with exposure to molten materials; appropriate hearing PPE provided.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available. This position may be subject to U.S. export control requirements under the Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
