Overview
Works under the supervision of the Office Manager and the Physicians. The Echo Technologist performs echocardiographic studies utilizing ultrasound techniques. The Echo Technologist demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess data reflective of patient status and to assist in the interpretation of this information. The Echo Technologist is responsible and accountable for competent echocardiographic ultrasound examinations. Also, the Echo Technologist is responsible for effectively communicating with staff to ensure patient quality care and is motivated with good interpersonal skills.
What you will do
- Performs diagnostic echocardiographic imaging studies, documents data on appropriate forms and assists physicians in interpretation of echo data. Provides preliminary reports to ordering physicians and notifies on-call physician as required.
- Maintains all equipment in safe, clean, working condition and maintains well-stocked work areas. Responsible for schedules, work area and other related matters and problems concerning these areas. Notifies management of any need for repair of equipment. Responsible for strong quality assurance program for all equipment and procedures while maintaining accurate records of these procedures.
- Incorporates national patient safety initiatives in daily practice, follows procedures and complies with HIPAA and OSHA. Demonstrates awareness and understanding of departmental policy/procedure and abides by all rules and regulations of the ICAEL.
- Promotes respect and confidentiality for the patient and teaches the patient about his/her diagnostic studies and his/her disease process as well as assisting in educating other office personnel regarding purposes and procedures and practices guest relations.
- Assists in educating other personnel regarding purposes and procedures in the echo lab setting.
Qualifications Education - Program Graduate, Accredited Sonography Program (Preferred) or
- Associates Degree, Accredited Sonography Program (Preferred) or
- Bachelors Degree, Accredited Sonography Program (Preferred)
Experience - 1 year Imaging and/or Medical Office (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications - CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
- Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) (Required) or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) (Required) or
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) (Required)
