Job Description

One of Stellar's engineering clients is searching for a Cost Controller to join their supply chain team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia! This is a full-time, permanent position that plays a vital role in ensuring the accurate capture and management of project costs. Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze project activities, factoring in risks, performance, and other variables to forecast costs accurately and optimize project outcomes
  • Ensure that incurred costs are captured in the financial system in a timely and accurate manner, managing change requests to keep project costs aligned with the budget
  • Review and approve Purchase Orders (POs), conduct vendor performance analysis, and ensure that cost forecasts remain on track
  • Prepare and deliver cost reports to project and executive leadership, explaining variances and providing recommendations for corrective actions
  • Support project managers by providing accurate cost forecasting and contributing to effective change management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify and recommend improvements to cost control processes to enhance the reliability and accuracy of financial reporting and project forecasting


Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, engineering, project management, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in cost analysis, budgeting, or cost management within a similar financial discipline
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools; experience with MS Project, MS SQL Server, Tableau, or Alteryx is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
  • A demonstrated interest in project management
  • The ability to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. ITAR compliance


Salary Range: $65-$75,000/year
