Our client, one of the world’s largest natural resource companies, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Renewable Energy Manager to join their team. This critical role focuses on the development and implementation of renewable energy projects, particularly wind and hydroelectric energy, in alignment with the company’s strategic energy and decarbonization goals. The ideal candidate will work closely with partners, consultants, and internal stakeholders to deliver innovative energy solutions and contribute to the organization’s sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Renewable Energy Project Development:
- Lead the planning and execution of utility-scale wind and hydroelectric energy projects, ensuring successful outcomes at all phases, including siting, permitting, interconnection, and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee project timelines and risk management, ensuring alignment with the company’s energy strategy and decarbonization objectives.
Partnership and Collaboration:
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and renewable energy partners, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with Indigenous partners to advance hydroelectric energy initiatives and ensure mutual alignment of project objectives.
Strategic Planning and Oversight:
- Provide technical input and strategic guidance for project feasibility studies, partnership structures, and financial modeling.
- Support investment approval processes with internal committees and senior leadership teams.
Regulatory Compliance and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Ensure compliance with regional regulations, permitting requirements, and industry standards.
- Partner with operations teams for system interconnection, technical planning, and regulatory adherence.
Innovation and Best Practices:
- Promote the use of innovative technologies and solutions to enhance project outcomes.
- Ensure alignment with the company’s best practices and operational standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on wind and hydroelectric energy.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills in both English and French.
- Experience in partnerships, contracts, and strategic planning within the Canadian regulatory and business environment.
- Familiarity with energy systems, electrical systems, and mining operations (preferred).
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
