Job Description

We are looking to hire a School Psychologist


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification (
  • Special Education Certification Preferred
  • Highly Qualified Status as per NCLB
  • At least three years of teaching experience
  • Working knowledge of Response To Intervention (RTI strategies).
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic procedures and instructional modification.
  • Clean Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance Must be completed prior to start of employment
  • 10-month position, in-person at the designated school building

Primary Duties:

  • The chosen candidate will be required to work in person , in the building to which they are assigned
  • Review referrals for individual evaluation to determine appropriate interventions; assess students when an individual evaluation is deemed appropriate; ensure that information is disseminated to the appropriate persons.
  • Administer appropriate tests for each student based on federal, state and local guidelines and the specific needs of the students.
  • Participate in IST/IEP meetings by providing suggested instructional interventions curriculum, modifications and student accommodations
  • Discuss the child's overall performance with the teacher, observe the concerned student in regular education, write an observation report, choose and administer the appropriate test.
  • Write the school psychologist's portion of the written assessment report and see that other appraisal reports are incorporated into it before the teacher is notified that the report is completed.
  • Review each referral prior to assessment to make certain the student's records and IST/RTI information are complete, outside data has been requested and vision and hearing have been assessed.
  • Participate in the IST meeting to determine disability eligibility.
  • Observe all federal timelines for assessments and for written assessment reports.
  • Employ RTI problem solving model, foster and promote collegiality and team building.
  • Consult with personnel from outside agencies when needed.
  • Other related duties as may be required.
