Overview:

The Concurrent Enrollment and Education Coordinator (Program Coordinator II) will plan and coordinate the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities centered around USU Uintah Basin students enrolled in concurrent enrollment and in undergraduate or graduate programs in the field of education, including paraprofessional, early childhood, elementary, and secondary education.

Responsibilities:

The Concurrent Enrollment and Education Coordinator (Program Coordinator II) may report to a Campus Administrator or Program Director. This classification may train and direct hourly or student employees, graduate students, and/or volunteers.

Educational Program Support

  • Plans, coordinates, and implements monthly support activities and events for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate certificate or degree in education
  • Serves as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and campus coordination team
  • Facilitates seminars, meetings, workshops, and events supporting students seeking education certificates or degrees
  • Coordinates recruitment and retention activities with campus recruiter/admissions specialist that is focused on high school students interested in education careers, paraprofessionals, and current educators seeking a graduate degree
  • Conduct quarterly listening sessions with program stakeholders
  • Presents program activities to community stakeholders like the K-16 Alliance, Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Club
  • Monitors expenses; may develop or participate in the development of funding proposals
  • Writes, edits, and coordinates the development of promotional and educational materials as appropriate to the program initiatives

Concurrent Enrollment Program Support

  • Provide clear and regular communication with the Concurrent Enrollment Director in Logan about all concurrent enrollment related topics
  • Provide In-person communication with local high schools and high school staff regarding concurrent enrollment program details
  • Work with regional high schools to determine student status for concurrent enrollment sections
  • Work with district staff, USU Uintah Basin administration, and the Concurrent Enrollment director to identify, recruit, obtain approval, and schedule instructors for the service area
  • Assist participating school district staff with timely registration of students in correct concurrent enrollment sections
  • Deliver yearly concurrent enrollment t-shirts to registered students throughout the service area and coordinate with the Logan Concurrent Enrollment Office to deliver annual instructor thank-you gifts as needed
  • Distribute USU pathway booklets and other marketing materials produced by the Logan Concurrent Enrollment Office
  • Coordinate and provide USU Recruitment-based activities as part of USU Uintah Basins Comprehensive Requirement plan
    • Informing parents, students, counselors/staff on what concurrent enrollment is based on information and training from the Logan Concurrent Enrollment Office
    • Sharing concurrent enrollment course options available in the Uintah Basin service area
  • Attend monthly concurrent enrollment statewide coordination meetings and district counseling meetings; attend annual concurrent enrollment conference

Both Program Areas

  • Collect and analyzes data; may prepare scheduled and special reports
  • Maintain program records and statistical information
  • Ensure completion of clerical and administrative support tasks, including creation, typing, and editing of program correspondence, purchasing documents, reports, program handbooks, and other publications
  • Write and/or assists with writing grants and proposals as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program
  • May perform specialized activities of a programmatic nature in direct support of the accomplishments of program objectives
  • May train and direct lower-level staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or graduate students
  • May teach or lead seminars, classes, and/or workshops
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant work experience; or a masters degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in an educational setting (k-16) or related field planning, developing and coordinating programs on a community or regional level
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Event planning, development, and coordination
  • Willingness to travel to area schools
  • Skilled in the use of computers and software applications like Microsoft Office and Outlook

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in early childhood, elementary, or secondary education
  • Experience teaching in elementary or secondary education
  • Willingness to learn Utah State University admissions and scholarship requirements and procedures
  • Masters degree or some graduate work

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices related to specific program.
  • Knowledge of research and information gathering methods and procedures.
  • If applicable, knowledge of grant development, implementation, budgeting, fiscal control, and reporting.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skilled at records maintenance.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Program specific knowledge, skills, and abilities as described in recruitment notices.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem solving, and discretion as work is varied and may be undefined.
  • Ability to work with a variety of audiences, including prospective students (traditional and nontraditional) and current undergraduate and graduate students.

Advertised Salary:
