Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and highly motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team at Novellis Health. This part-time/per diem position offers a flexible schedule with 2-3 days of work per week and the opportunity to contribute to the exceptional care we provide to our patients. Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement patient care plans, including treatment plans, medication management, and supportive care.
- Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and other medications as prescribed.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and manage side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.
- Educate patients and their families about their diagnosis, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
- Provide emotional and psychosocial support to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and pharmacists.
- Participate in patient rounds and tumor boards.
- Perform procedures such as venipuncture, injections, and dressing changes.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Assist with the coordination of patient care, including scheduling appointments and referrals.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay current on the latest advancements in oncology and hematology.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York.
- Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in oncology or hematology highly preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- BLS certification required.
