What you’ll do:
As a Production Coordinator you will manages the cylinder/valves asset stock levels (both Messer- and customer-owned), schedules cylinder treatment, filling and blowdowns, coordinates priorities with the plant manager in order to maximize output in an ever-changing demand environment, supervise and facilitate the filling and lab operations while maintaining complete compliance with the Messer Safety and Work Ethic and Quality standards. This role also plans production to avoid peaks in the demand, shortages in the supply and to meet customer service levels. In this position will also be responsible for accuracy of stock levels and inventory of raw materials and imported products so the plant can meet customer requirements. This role is critical for Spec Gas filling plants where 90% of production are custom make to order mixtures.
- Manage SAP Production Planning as it relates to production operations, including scheduling, expediting, and inventory management.
- Review data from MRP runs and convert planned orders to Production Orders or forward Requisitions to Purchasing, for gas and equipment.
- Release, print and distribute Production Orders to the plant.
- Initiate Production Orders and Purchase Requisitions for unplanned demands.
- Maintain safety stock in SAP for stocked gas items.
- Maintain programmed safety stock and MIN/MAX levels for equipment.
- Optimize workload across available employees while ensuring the personnel adhere to the assigned schedule.
- Review production and delivery status of in-house shop orders and communicate to Customer Service, Branches and online short ship report.
- Responsible for ordering and receiving imported products for Whitby Spec Gas Plant Receive bulk gases and equipment against STO’s and Purchase Orders. Maintain records of purchased products
- Expedite and organize the shipment of empty cylinders to vendors.
- Obtain and prepare documents required for the export of full and empty cylinders.
- Ensure Inventory accuracy and supervise cycle counts and cylinder/equipment inventories. Make stock adjustments in SAP as required
- Leads bi yearly inventory counts and reconciles inventory discrepancies
- Back up for Afternoon shift supervisor
- Maintain replenishment report
- Maintain Kanbans, layout revisions
- Owner of production planning database
What it takes:
- College Diploma in production planning and inventory control or equivalent with experience
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in production planning and inventory control in an industrial environment
- Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office is required, SAP Production Planning functionality
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is critical
- Accounting skills
- Process systems knowledge and expertise; Experience in manometric and gravimetric blending techniques, and other common methods of gas blending and filling is required.
- Ability to work with all staffing levels, supervise, problem solve, schedule work assignment, and motivate production personnel.
