Position: Project Engineering Support Specialist

Location: Princeton, British Columbia

Project: Copper Mine (Field)


Introduction

Brunel is recruiting for a Project Engineering Support Specialist for the Copper Mountain Mine Project, supporting a key mining client. The Project Engineering Support Specialist is responsible for managing project documentation, supporting procurement processes, and coordinating between engineering teams, contractors, and project controls. This role involves maintaining project folders, managing contractor compliance, assisting with asset management, and ensuring smooth project closeout. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major mining project while gaining valuable field and engineering experience.


Responsibilities

  • Complete bidders list for review and approval by procurement and project manager.
  • Create Purchase Requisitions (PRs) for the project, ensuring all necessary information is captured accurately.
  • Maintain Google Drive package folders and overall listing to ensure proper organization and accessibility of project documents.
  • Manage contractor documentation and HSEC processes, including obtaining and filing signed SOPs and certificates.
  • Assist with Dig Permits by drafting and obtaining necessary signatures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate site alerts for project-related activities to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information.
  • Provide project closeout support by locating missing vendor documents and uploading project photos to SharePoint.
  • Create construction packages for contractors, ensuring all relevant drawings and data sheets are included for field use.
  • Compile proposals and file them in Google Drive project folders, ensuring proper documentation and easy access.
  • Upload vendor insurance and WorkSafe documents to Google Drive, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Liaise with document control to ensure proper management and storage of all project-related documentation.
  • Assist in preparing weekly meeting minutes and reports, capturing key action items and project updates.
  • Coordinate project planning and communication between Engineering Design, Construction, Contractors, and Operations teams.
  • Support Project Controls by assisting with compiling, processing, and analyzing project costs, schedules, and change management.
  • Scan and upload QC and ITP handover documents to SharePoint to ensure accessibility and traceability.
  • Manage asset number and spare parts handovers to maintenance, including asset creation in Maximo for units over 30.


Requirements

  • 4 to 6+ years of project engineering support experience, specifically within heavy industry sectors such as mining, petrochemical, or manufacturing.
  • Strong familiarity with project controls, including cost management, scheduling, and change management processes.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with a focus on document management and project collaboration.
  • Demonstrated experience with PDF management tools for document editing, annotation, and organization.
  • Expertise in using ERP systems, particularly Maximo and SAP, for asset management, work order tracking, procurement, and inventory management.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and documentation workflows across various project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to coordinate and collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of HSEC (Health, Safety, Environment, and Compliance) documentation, with the ability to manage and track safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Solid understanding of asset management processes, including the creation and management of assets within Maximo.
  • Experience with the full lifecycle of construction projects, from design and planning through to execution and closeout, with a focus on timely delivery and compliance.
