Construction/AV Technical Project Manager Consultant

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Duration: 6 Months (with potential for extension)

Schedule: Hybrid Role, 9 AM – 6 PM PST

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Construction/AV Technical Project Manager with significant experience in managing commercial construction and renovation projects, specifically involving technology integration. This role requires a professional who understands the construction process, from permitting and working with general contractors (GCs) and subcontractors to interpreting drawings and adhering to construction timelines.

The primary focus is overseeing conference room refreshes and rebuilds , which include defining, designing, and implementing AV systems while ensuring alignment with construction schedules and standards.

Key Requirements:

• 8+ years managing AV, renovation, or construction projects.
• Strong experience integrating technology into commercial renovations or new construction projects.
• In-depth knowledge of the construction process, including working with GCs, subcontractors, permitting, and construction drawings/elevations.
• 15+ years of program/project management experience, preferably within facilities or construction.
• 3+ years of experience with Agile methodologies.
• Proven ability to manage vendors and remote contractors effectively.
• Hands-on experience with conference room builds, AV systems, and facilities projects .
• Familiarity with tools like JIRA is a plus but not required.

Primary Responsibilities:

Construction & Project Management:

• Manage AV engineering, design, construction, and renovation projects, ensuring compliance with corporate standards, schedules, and budgets.
• Oversee all phases of the construction process, including permitting, scheduling, and monitoring of contractors and vendors for surveys and installations.
• Ensure all project phases are aligned with construction timelines, addressing potential risks and liabilities proactively.
• Review and interpret work orders, construction drawings, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.

AV & Technology Integration:

• Lead the integration of AV technology into conference room builds and renovations.
• Act as the liaison between technical teams, contractors, and vendors to execute detailed project plans.
• Manage the ordering and installation of project equipment and materials, ensuring adherence to budgets and schedules.
• Resolve incoming issues related to conference room AV systems and triage them effectively.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
• Lead internal and external project initiation meetings, bridging communication gaps between stakeholders.
• Regularly present project status reports, highlighting risks and providing actionable solutions to upper management.

Team Leadership & Coordination:

• Allocate resources (human and financial) across various project phases.
• Train and guide remote contractors and vendors, ensuring project deliverables are met.
• Monitor team performance and address any challenges to maintain project momentum.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Hands-on experience with conference room AV systems and their maintenance.
• Familiarity with established AV hardware, tools, and installation techniques.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and best practices in AV systems.
• Certifications such as PMP or Agile training are a plus.
