Job Description

The Transportation Specialist II plays a critical role in providing logistics support for Gas and Steam Turbine Projects across North and South America. This position requires deep expertise in logistics operations and regulatory compliance, particularly with U.S. import/export regulations. The role focuses on ensuring timely deliveries while managing cost and meeting customer deadlines.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement claim prevention techniques and improve processes to reduce logistics-related costs and time.
  • Select the most efficient modes of transportation and determine optimal routes, consolidation points, and warehouse locations.
  • Assess and refine shipping procedures to lower logistics costs and improve customer service.
  • Evaluate freight terms for inbound and outbound shipments and develop strategies to make transportation a competitive advantage.
  • Manage Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations, ensuring compliance, accurate recordkeeping, and interface with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
  • Oversee logistical lanes for bonded materials and temporary imports for repair, tooling, and material kits to international regions, including Canada, Mexico, South America, and Western EU.
  • Retain and file communications between customers, vendors, and government agencies.
  • Ensure timely ISF filings and product classification in accordance with HTSUS.
  • Audit entry summary packets for HTSUS classification, valuations, and other related details.
  • Prepare and submit Post Entry Amendment requests to brokers for approval.
  • Handle communications with CBP, including Notices of Action and Census inquiries.
  • Review and approve inbound and outbound shipment bills, including those for special projects.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, reporting unsafe activities.
  • Contribute to team efforts to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Travel as needed to meet customer requirements (land, air, or overnight).
  • Demonstrate the highest level of honesty and integrity at all times.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of specialty trade areas such as NAFTA, FTZ, TIB, and HTSUS programs, along with understanding U.S. entry processes and Customs regulations (19 CFR).

Language Skills

  • Ability to interpret business documents, technical specifications, and regulatory information.
  • Proficient in writing reports, correspondence, and presenting information clearly.

Mathematical Skills

  • Strong ability to perform calculations involving percentages, commissions, and other mathematical concepts.

Reasoning Ability

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret instructions from various sources.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, and basic databases.
