We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our clients dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in product liability, business torts, medical malpractice, employment law, contract disputes, and other commercial litigation matters. This position requires strong legal research skills, exceptional written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in the preparation, organization, and filing of legal documents related to product liability, business torts, medical malpractice, employment law, contract disputes, and other commercial litigation matters.
- Prepare, proofread, and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
- Conduct legal research to support case strategy, prepare case summaries, and assist in the development of legal arguments.
- Manage and maintain case files, ensuring all relevant documents and materials are organized and accessible.
- Assist in preparing for trial by organizing exhibits, drafting discovery responses, and coordinating with witnesses and experts.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties to gather information and updates related to cases.
- Monitor case progress, deadlines, and court schedules, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including calendar management, client communications, and preparing correspondence.
- Review and organize contracts, agreements, and other commercial documents.
- Assist with settlement negotiations and prepare documents necessary for settlement agreements.
- Perform other legal administrative tasks as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in a legal assistant role, with a focus on product liability, business torts, medical malpractice, employment law, contract disputes, and commercial litigation.
- Familiarity with legal terminology, court rules, and procedures related to various types of litigation.
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, CaseMap, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
