Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the company's supply chain, procurement, and purchasing functions. They ensure the timely acquisition of materials, products, and services required by the company, while maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and supplier relationships. The role involves working closely with internal departments, suppliers, and vendors to achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy Development :
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers, vendors, and service providers for cost-effectiveness, quality, and reliability.
  • Supplier Management :
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring the continuity of supply.
  • Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and maintain consistent supply chains.
  • Inventory Management :
  • Ensure the proper inventory levels are maintained, avoiding shortages or overstocking.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to streamline inventory management.
  • Purchase Order Management :
  • Process purchase orders, ensuring timely procurement and delivery of materials or goods.
  • Track orders and resolve any issues related to delays, quality, or discrepancies.
  • Cost Control :

  • Reporting and Documentation :
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier contracts, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, budgets, and savings initiatives to senior management.
  • Collaboration :
  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., production, finance, sales) to align purchasing strategies with overall company goals.
  • Resolve supply chain issues with cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage vendor relationships.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management, procurement procedures, and cost control.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
