Jill Howard Design Studio is seeking an experienced Interior Designer to work in our Charleston, SC office. The ideal candidate is collaborative, extremely organized, detail-oriented, and a self-motivated problem solver with a firm understanding of the design process from pre-construction to installation. Ability to initiate tasks and perform duties with little supervision is required. The Interior Designer reports directly to the Principal.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Principal in the Design Phase.
- Create interior architecture and cabinetry drawings using AutoCAD. 3D rendering or hand rendering skills a bonus.
- Source furniture, fixtures, and finishes for high-end residential projects under the guidance of the Principal.
- Work with Project Administrator who will place, manage and track orders.
- Create and manage ID schedules for construction projects.
- Coordinate with general contractors, fabricators, trades, and suppliers.
- Oversee and maintain project budgets and timelines.
- Review and edit drawing packages and shop drawings, as required.
- Review and approve invoices to be paid by Project Finance Administrator.
- Provide site checks for duration of project.
- Manage progress of work and job-site cohesiveness
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in interior design preferred but not required.
- Must have a minimum 3 years experience as an interior designer in residential design, including new construction projects (commercial experience is a bonus, but it is not required).
- Ability to create detailed interior architecture and cabinetry drawings required.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage and lead.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Google Workspace and Studio Designer.
- Must have a car and a valid driver’s license. MUST live in the Charleston, SC area.
