Senior Survivability Engineer
Location: Troy, MI
Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000
Role Overview:
The Senior Survivability Engineer will focus on integrating subsystems and designing armor solutions to protect vehicle crews. This role involves working on both new and existing designs for combat vehicle armor and structure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze system requirements and create solutions for vehicle protection.
- Develop and integrate passive and active protection systems for combat vehicles.
- Work on signature management solutions (thermal, acoustic, and visual).
- Support armor subsystem integration, testing, and verification.
- Collaborate with Materials Engineers to select appropriate materials.
- Represent the Survivability team at internal and external meetings.
- Travel up to 25%, including occasional trips to Europe.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, or related field).
- Experience:
- 10+ years in armor vehicle design and development.
- Experience with passive and active protection systems.
- Knowledge of vehicle survivability and threat mitigation.
- Familiarity with CAD design systems and DoD vehicle requirements.
- Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical solution presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MSc in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems).
- Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., CREO).
- Military experience and understanding of systems engineering standards.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Primarily sitting, with travel requirements and occasional physical tasks.
