Cbiz is assisting a client in the search for a Director of Finance.
The Director of Finance will be the senior-most financial executive in the Firm and a proactive and integral part of the Firm's leadership team. This role demands the ability to manage detailed data with a strategic understanding of the Firm’s financial health and success.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Operations Oversight:
- Manage all financial operations of the Firm.
- Provide guidance on business strategy, operations, management, and high-level business issues.
- Transaction Processing:
- Process bank transactions, including wires, ACH, and internal transfers.
- Compensation Management:
- Calculate owner compensation estimates and collaborate with the Management Committee to review and adjust estimates.
- Prepare compensation analyses for lawyer onboarding.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Provide data analysis and insights for timekeepers and the Firm.
- Calculate and review profitability monthly for timekeepers and departments.
- Budget and Accounting Liaison:
- Prepare and maintain the annual budget.
- Act as primary liaison with outside accountants for tax returns, PTET, and related issues.
- Team Leadership:
- Oversee the Finance and Accounting team.
- Assist HR team with performance review statistics.
- Billing and AR Support:
- Provide high-level support for complex billing and accounts receivable issues.
- Manage annual billable rate increases and notices.
- Trust Account Management:
- Manage and monitor client trust/IOLTA accounts.
- Tax and Payments Management:
- Handle PTET process and payments for the Firm and owner entities.
- Provide information for and pay estimated taxes for certain owners.
- Banking Relations:
- Work with banks and owners for line of credit renewals.
- Monitor bank accounts, reconcile real estate closings, and manage cash flow.
- Reporting and Reconciliation:
- Review monthly income statements and balance sheets.
- Review contractor payments, AP, and monthly partner draws.
- Bonuses and Investments:
- Calculate and process quarterly origination bonuses.
- Manage investment entities and investments.
- Contract and Insurance Management:
- Review contract renewals and collaborate on business insurance renewals.
- Lead management committee meetings and partner meetings.
- IT Collaboration:
- Partner with the IT team on relevant projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (advanced certifications like MBA, CPA, CLM preferred).
- Over ten years of leadership experience in law firm management.
- Strong computer and technical skills, with proficiency in Excel and Coyote Analytics.
- Ability to quickly learn and solve problems.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience in client-oriented settings and team development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with multi-state issues and PTET.

- MS Office Suite (O365), with Advanced Excel proficiency
- iSolved (HR/payroll system)
The annual salary target for this job is $200,000-$250,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
