Location: San Jose, California (Hybrid - 2-3 days on-site, specifically Tuesday and Wednesdays)

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Research And Development Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hard disk drive (HDD) technology and extensive experience in embedded firmware development. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge HDD technology in a collaborative and tight-knit team environment, with growth opportunities within the technical ladder up to the fellow level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop embedded firmware and implement algorithms in areas of performance, including caching and controller firmware, to ensure meeting product specification and customer requirements.
• Apply statistical and data analysis techniques, including model simulation, to identify and address complex issues.
• Evaluate and troubleshoot problems encountered during firmware development and testing.
• Prepare design documents and conduct thorough design and code reviews.
• Communicate effectively and work closely with remote development teams.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of relevant experience in embedded firmware development, with preference for candidates with HDD experience.
• Expertise in C and C++.
• Background in simulation, especially caching behavior and new algorithms for performance improvement.
• Strong analytical, programming, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with hard drive technology and controller firmware.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Bachelor's in engineering, M.S or PhD preferred.

Compensation:

• Base Salary: $132,400 - $178,800
• Bonus: 10% bonus eligibility, paid out twice a fiscal year based on goals and performance
• No relocation package offered
