Our client seeks a skilled Automation and Controls Engineer to join a dynamic team of over 20 engineers serving the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. As part of the Automation team, you will contribute to impactful projects through the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Designing basic to highly complex instrumentation, controls, and related systems using 3D and 4D drafting programs.
- Preparing technical memoranda, preliminary design reports (PDRs), and specifications for specific components and products.
- Reviewing component-level shop drawings and responding to requests for information (RFIs).
- Performing field acceptance testing (FATs), field inspections, and creating human-machine interface (HMI) designs, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and reports.
- Leading testing and startup teams for instrumentation and control systems, ensuring documentation completion and quality assurance.
- Assisted with developing operations and maintenance manuals and created systems training for end users.
- Mentoring junior staff, reviewing their work, and providing leadership within the team.
- Supporting proposal development and client presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within 18 months of hire.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience (equivalent additional experience may be considered instead of a degree).
- Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally based on project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the Water/Wastewater industry.
- Background working within an engineering or construction firm.
Skills and Abilities
- Expert knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and related systems design.
- Proficiency in 3D and 4D CAD drafting software.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
