Senior Instruments & Controls Engineer
Location: Hybrid (3 days in Houston, TX office, preferably Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Job Type: Contract (potential for Full Time Employment)
Compensation: $55–$68/hr
Position Overview
We seek a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our team as a technical specialist or lead engineer. In this role, you will apply advanced engineering techniques, conduct in-depth analyses, and expand your expertise within your discipline while also exploring other functional areas. This position requires minimal supervision and involves complex project coordination, quality assurance, and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Standards
- Stay current and apply independent knowledge of departmental design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes.
- Interpret and implement company policies and procedures related to assigned tasks.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with the company’s quality program and guide project and discipline teams.
- Actively support continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
Engineering Production
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables and perform advanced calculations using standard methods and principles.
- Conduct in-depth research to develop recommendations for equipment and material selection.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements independently.
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate engineering techniques, procedures, and project criteria.
- Oversee data collection, assimilation, and management and lead smaller production teams.
- Serve as the responsible charge for assigned projects.
Project Coordination
- Actively coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.
- Ensure alignment across disciplines and stakeholders to meet project requirements.
Client Focus
- Assist in identifying client interests and drivers for less complex projects.
- Communicate client priorities to project teams and develop approaches to integrate these concerns into project execution.
- Support business development and project pursuits as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Technical Skills
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles, applicable codes, and standards related to the assigned discipline.
- Proficiency in change management, quality programs, and materials selection.
- Ability to perform complex research, calculations, and deliverable preparation.
- Experience with project budgeting, planning, and conflict management.
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, direct teams, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Skilled in conflict management, listening, and informing team members.
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and building effective teams.
Professional Registration
- Most positions require professional registration, licensure, or active pursuit thereof, in the designated home office country.
Work Environment & Travel
- Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in-office (preferably Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
- Travel may be required based on project needs.
